The HDMI chain refers to the connections made to transmit the HDMI display signal from the OTBeat laptop to the OTBeat TVs in the studio. These connections are the cause of most OTBeat display issues, so it is important to familiarize yourself. Most studios have one of the 3 following HDMI chains:
- OTBeat Laptop HDMI port > HDMI Extender transmitter > HDMI Extender Receiver > HDMI Splitter > OTBeat TVs
- OTBeat Laptop HDMI port > HDMI Splitter > HDMI Extender transmitter > HDMI Extender Receiver > HDMI Splitter > OTBeat TVs
- OTBeat Laptop HDMI port > HDMI Extender Transmitter > HDMI Extender Receiver > HDMI Splitter> HDMI Extender Transmitters > HDMI Extender Receivers > OTBeat TVs
Yellow: Front desk area -- Gray: In office rack -- Green: Behind the OTBeat TVs

When the OTBeat TVs are blacking out, flashing, or aren’t displaying at all, power cycling (unplugging from power and plugging them back in) devices in the yellow part of the HDMI chain (HDMI Splitter and HDMI Extender) should be the first step.
Extend Display
To display HRM data on each TV properly, two settings must be in place on the OTBeat laptop.
- Press the Windows key + P to open the “PROJECT” menu
- Select “Extend”
- Open the OTBeat application and click the gear icon to open the administration panel
- Under “screen” select the drop down menu and click “Screen 2” and then apply (Note: if screen 2 wasn’t already selected, restarting the OTBeat application is necessary for the change to take effect.)
